West Bengal Election: Repoll Ordered in 15 Polling Booths
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a repoll in 15 polling booths located in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. This decision follows the recent elections that took place during the second phase of the state assembly elections on April 29, 2026.
The repolling will occur on Saturday, May 2, and will take place in two assembly constituencies: Magrahat Paschim and Diamond Harbour. Specifically, the ECI has ordered that 11 booths in Magrahat Paschim and four booths in Diamond Harbour conduct the repoll. These booths will be open for voting from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the ECI directive.
The move for repolling signifies the ECI's commitment to ensuring a fair election process in West Bengal, where several issues have emerged throughout the electoral process. The Election Commission is expected to monitor the situation closely to maintain the integrity of the elections.
As the state prepares for this repoll, candidates and their supporters are gearing up to ensure maximum voter turnout in the affected booths. The situation will be closely observed by local election officials and independent observers.
The overall assembly election in West Bengal has garnered significant attention, with various political parties vying for control in a region known for its vibrant political landscape. The repolling serves as a critical step in solidifying the electoral outcomes amidst ongoing scrutiny.
With the repoll scheduled soon, it remains to be seen how this will impact the overall results of the elections in West Bengal, a state that historically plays a pivotal role in national politics in India.
