Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announces new cabinet with Marie Wilson as Finance Minister and Sengottaiyan overseeing Revenue.

The Tamil Nadu Cabinet was expanded on Thursday, May 21, 2026, with the addition of 23 new ministers under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, increasing the total number of ministers to 33. The reshuffle includes a reassignment of various portfolios. New Minister for Finance, N. Marie Wilson, takes over from K.A. Sengottaiyan, who has been appointed Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management.

Chief Minister Vijay has maintained his existing portfolios and has also taken on new responsibilities in Special Initiatives, Poverty Alleviation, and Rural Indebtedness. These departments were previously managed by N. Anand, who was responsible for Rural Development and Water Resources.

The expanded cabinet features several new ministers, including A. Srinath, who will head Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, and S. Kamali, appointed as Minister for Animal Husbandry. C. Vijayalakshmi will oversee Milk and Dairy Development, while R.V. Ranjithkumar has been designated as Minister for Forests. Other notable appointments include Vinoth as Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, V.K. Rajeev for Environment and Climate Change, and B. Rajkumar for Housing and Urban Development.

The cabinet also includes K. Jegadeeshwari as Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment and Congress Legislature Party leader S. Rajesh Kumar as Minister for Tourism. Additional appointments comprise M. Vijay Balaji for Handlooms and Textiles and D. Logesh Tamilselvan for Commercial Taxes and Registration. Furthermore, A. Vijay Tamilan Parthiban has been named Minister for Transport, and S. Ramesh will now oversee Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments.

Among the other new ministers, P. Viswanathan of the Congress party will lead the Higher Education department, while R. Kumar has been tasked with Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and Digital Services. K. Thennarasu is designated as the Minister for Non-Resident Tamils Welfare, and V. Sampath Kumar will handle Backward Classes Welfare.

Other roles include J. Mohamed Farvas as Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development, D. Sarathkumar for Human Resources Management, and K. Vignesh for Prohibition and Excise. This restructuring highlights the government's intention to enhance its administrative efficiency and responsiveness to pressing issues in the state.
