Delhi Police Arrests Suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba Operative
The Special Cell of Delhi Police has apprehended a suspected operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Ghazipur area of New Delhi. The arrest, which occurred on March 30, 2026, came after police received intelligence regarding the individual's involvement in anti-India propaganda, specifically related to posters that were discovered at multiple metro stations in Delhi on February 22.
The detained individual, identified as Lone, also known by the aliases Raja and Kashmiri, is said to be a resident of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. Police officials characterised him as a "hardcore and highly-trained terrorist." They stated that he allegedly served as a handler for a module implicated in the distribution of anti-national posters across various locations, not only in Delhi but also in Kolkata.
According to a senior police officer, Lone had established connections with handlers thought to be operating on behalf of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's principal intelligence agency. This connection has raised significant concerns regarding cross-border terrorism and its impact on domestic security.
The apprehension of Lone marks another development in ongoing efforts by Indian law enforcement to combat terrorism and related activities in urban centres, particularly in light of recent incidents involving propaganda campaigns aimed at undermining state authority.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of Lone's network and his potential links to other groups involved in similar activities. The investigation is still active, with police urging the public to remain vigilant regarding any such materials distributed in their communities.
