CBFC Imposes Cuts on Alia Bhatt's Alpha Before Release
The Central Board of Film Certification has made edits to Alpha, including reducing violence and language, ahead of its release on July 3.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has approved the film Alpha, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, with a U/A 16+ certificate. However, this approval comes with several required modifications. Notably, the CBFC's Examining Committee requested a redraft of the film’s disclaimer at the beginning. Additionally, subtitles were mandated for all musical numbers included in the movie.

Producers, Yash Raj Films (YRF), were required to present the opening credits and end roll in Hindi. During the examination, specific scenes were scrutinised for violent content. Original visuals depicting multiple stabbings were reduced and replaced with alternative images to lessen the graphic nature of the scenes.

The committee did not disclose details about the specific visuals that were altered. Further cuts involved the removal of a foul word used in the first half of the film. Furthermore, the committee directed the filmmakers to include anti-alcohol messaging in all scenes that depict alcohol consumption.

In compliance with regulatory requirements, the filmmakers were also instructed to submit a parental consent letter for the child actor featured in Alpha. Following these adjustments, the film received its censor certificate on June 29.

The total length of Alpha, as listed on the censor certificate, is 140.48 minutes, or 2 hours and 20 minutes. The first half runs for 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 32 seconds, while the second half spans 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 16 seconds. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is part of the YRF Spy Universe and is scheduled for theatrical release on July 3.
