Trump Warns Iran of Possible Military Strike Amid Ongoing Conflict
U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric against Iran, stating on April 6, 2026, that the country could be 'taken out in one night' if it does not comply with demands to reopen the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz. The warning came during a press conference at the White House, where Trump discussed the latest developments in the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
As Iran flatly rejected the latest ceasefire proposal, deeming it insufficient, U.S. officials have indicated that a 45-day ceasefire idea is under consideration. However, Trump noted that while Iranās proposal was acknowledged, it was not deemed 'good enough' by the U.S.
The Iranian state-run news agency IRNA reported that Tehran communicated its refusal through Pakistan, a key mediator, stating it seeks a permanent resolution rather than a temporary ceasefire. A senior Iranian official also conveyed that Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a temporary truce, adding that they do not accept pressure for quick decisions.
On the military front, the Israeli military claimed to have successfully executed a series of airstrikes against āregime targetsā in Tehran, which reportedly resulted in at least 25 casualties. These strikes targeted airports known to be operational for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and were described as part of efforts to severely weaken the Iranian military capabilities.
Trumpās administration has also been involved in ongoing military operations, with the President revealing that over 170 U.S. military aircraft participated in the recent rescue of a downed airman from Iran. He mentioned that some aircraft were damaged during the operation, necessitating their destruction.
In a subsequent development, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced their intent to avenge the death of Major General Majid Khademi, who was reportedly killed during an Israeli strike. They pledged that a significant retaliatory operation was being planned in response to this incident.
Internationally, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan voiced frustrations regarding Israel's actions, claiming they undermine efforts to achieve a ceasefire. He stressed Turkey's commitment to finding any opportunity to facilitate negotiations and end the conflict.
Additionally, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs reported that 1,777 Indian nationals had been evacuated from Iran via land borders since the onset of the regional conflict. Most returning individuals include students and fishermen, with operations facilitated by the Indian embassy in Tehran.
