A driver breaches security at the Delhi Assembly, prompting arrests amid rising safety concerns.

On April 6, 2026, a masked individual drove a car through the gates of the Delhi Assembly, raising significant security alarms. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. when the vehicle, bearing an Uttar Pradesh registration plate, penetrated Gate No. 2 of the Assembly premises.

According to officials, the unnamed driver made his way towards the office of Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and left a flower bouquet near the entrance before retreating from the scene.

Delhi Police quickly responded to the breach, arresting the driver identified as Sarabjit Singh, a resident of the Puranpur area in Pillibhit. Authorities also detained two additional individuals in connection with this occurrence.

A representative from the Delhi Secretariat stated that the incident is being treated as a serious security breach, particularly following a series of threats directed at the Assembly during the recent Budget session.

The breach highlights ongoing concerns regarding the safety and security frameworks in place at governmental institutions, prompting calls for a review of current measures. Officials are investigating the incident further to understand the intentions behind the actions of the driver and any deeper implications regarding security protocols at the Assembly.

At this time, there have been no reported injuries resulting from the incident, but the swift action of law enforcement reflects the heightened vigilance surrounding the site. The presence of police personnel on the premises post-incident underscores the vital importance of ensuring safety in public government spaces.
