Prime Minister Modi to Visit Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman Next Week
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to undertake a three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman from December 15 to December 18. This trip aims to bolster India’s diplomatic presence in both West Asia and Africa, covering two continents in just three days.
The visit will commence on December 15 in Jordan, where Modi will stay for two days before moving on to Ethiopia from December 16 to 17. The final leg of his journey will take place in Oman from December 17 to 18. These visits reflect India’s strategy to strengthen bilateral ties and engage key partners in these regions.
This upcoming tour follows Modi's participation in the G20 Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa, where India advocated for inclusive growth and highlighted the priorities of the Global South. Modi's recent diplomatic activities also included a visit to Bhutan, marking his first official trip to the Himalayan nation since the election of its new government. During this visit, he met with King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, emphasising the strong partnership between India and Bhutan.
India's Ministry of External Affairs has characterised the relationship with Bhutan as a "unique and enduring partnership rooted in mutual trust, understanding, and goodwill." Modi's discussions in Bhutan focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and acknowledged the shared spiritual heritage and warm ties between the two nations.
The forthcoming tour to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman is expected to reinforce India's commitment to active engagement with diverse global regions, building on recent diplomatic advances and partnerships in West Asia and Africa. This visit is seen as part of a broader initiative to enhance India's standing and influence in these strategically important areas.
As the diplomatic landscape evolves, Modi's interactions in these countries may pave the way for new economic and strategic collaborations, further solidifying India's position on the world stage.
