Main Vaapas Aaunga Sees Poor Box Office Performance in India
The romantic drama Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali and featuring actors Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah, has had a disappointing debut at the Indian box office.
On its second day, the film reportedly collected ₹1.85 crore, following a weak opening. This underwhelming performance raises questions about its ability to generate significant revenue moving forward. Industry analysts suggest that the film will require a dramatic increase in audience turnout to recover its production costs.
In comparison, other films released concurrently are also having a mixed performance. Vikram Bhatt's horror film Haunted 3D collected ₹3 crore on its second day, aiming for a target of ₹9 crore over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Manoj Bajpayee-led drama Governor has gathered just ₹1.70 crore over its first two days of screening.
The sci-fi thriller Disclosure, directed by Steven Spielberg, added ₹2.75 crore on its second day and is projected to reach ₹8 crore over the weekend. Contrastingly, the horror thriller Obsession is performing better, reportedly hitting the ₹70 crore mark within 16 days of its release.
On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata collected ₹1.40 crore on its second day, indicating a potentially disappointing run as well. Varun Dhawan's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has crossed the ₹40 crore milestone over its second Saturday, highlighting its stronger box office presence compared to Main Vaapas Aaunga.
As per film critics, the current trend suggests that audience interest in new releases may be waning. It remains to be seen how Main Vaapas Aaunga adapts to these challenging market conditions.
