India's November Auto Sales Surge: Maruti Suzuki Leads Growth
The Indian automotive industry experienced substantial growth in November 2025, with several major manufacturers reporting impressive sales figures. Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, achieved its highest-ever total sales, including exports, reaching 229,021 units. This marks a 26% increase compared to November 2024, according to company officials.
Hyundai Motor India reported wholesales of 50,340 units, up from 48,246 units in the same month last year, reflecting a growth of 4%. Meanwhile, Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced a notable increase in its total dispatches to dealers, which rose by 28% year-on-year to 33,752 units. Kia India also reported a 24% rise in sales, with 25,489 units sold in November 2025 compared to 20,600 units in the previous year.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles saw a dispatch of 57,436 units in the domestic market, indicating a 22% growth from 47,063 units sold in November 2024. The overall sales, including light commercial vehicles (LCVs), climbed 21% to 174,593 units, marking the highest sales figure for the company in any November over the last four decades. Tata Motors attributed this growth to strong demand across all segments, including small cars and sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing & Sales at Maruti Suzuki, stated that retail growth was even more pronounced, achieving a year-on-year increase of 31% in November. He emphasised that the demand remained robust following the festive season, contributing to the strong sales performance of leading automakers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Mahindra & Mahindra.
Hero MotoCorp, a major player in the two-wheeler market, reported a remarkable 31.5% increase in two-wheeler sales, totalling 604,000 units. The company's exports surged by 69.1% year-on-year, achieving 33,970 units. Domestic sales also rose by 29.7% to 571,000 units.
In November, Maruti Suzuki achieved significant milestones in exports, dispatching over 46,000 vehicles, with the E Vitara model being particularly popular, leading to over 10,000 units exported to 26 countries. Banerjee highlighted that some models were in such high demand that there were no units available at the factory.
Additionally, the tractor segment showed strong performance, with Mahindra & Mahindra reporting a 22% increase in passenger vehicle sales and a 33% rise in domestic tractor sales. The company has raised its growth guidance for the fiscal year to 10-12%, up from the previous estimate of 7-9%. This optimism is attributed to improved rural liquidity and a robust demand sentiment.
The recent reduction in Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, which lowered the tax for certain vehicles from 28% to 18%, has sparked growth in the Indian auto sector, particularly benefiting lower capacity bikes and small cars. Maruti Suzuki is expected to gain significantly from this trend, projecting over 16% growth in November.
The overall outlook for the Indian automotive industry remains positive, with expectations of continued growth driven by strong consumer demand and favourable economic conditions. The momentum in sales is anticipated to persist as manufacturers adjust production to meet rising market needs.
