Donald Trump Reveals Iran's Oil Tanker Gesture Amid Talks
US President Donald Trump reports that Iran has allowed ten oil tankers to pass as a show of goodwill in ongoing diplomatic discussions.

United States President Donald Trump announced that Iran is permitting the passage of ten oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz in what he described as a goodwill gesture amidst ongoing backchannel discussions between Washington and Tehran. Trump suggested that the vessels are operating under Pakistani flags, indicating a possible role for Pakistan in these developments.

The President made these comments during a Cabinet meeting briefing at the White House, revealing that Iran had delivered a 'very significant prize' to the United States. The Strait of Hormuz is recognised as one of the world's most crucial oil transit routes, making any movement in this area particularly significant.

On Tuesday, Trump stated, "They said, to show you the fact that we're real and solid, we're going to let you have eight boats of oil, eight big boats of oil." He reported that the first group of tankers began navigating through the vital waterway several days prior, a detail he became aware of after seeing news reports. "I watched the news, and they said something's unusual happening. There are eight boats going right up the middle of the Hormuz Strait," he noted.

Later, Trump remarked that the initial number of tankers increased due to a subsequent gesture from Iran. He explained, "They then apologised for something they said, and they said, we're going to send two more boats," leading to the eventual delivery of ten vessels.

Trump highlighted that the tankers appeared to be flying the Pakistani flag, suggesting a rising role for Pakistan not only in diplomatic matters but also in the logistics of oil movement. He framed this scenario as evidence that the United States was engaging with the appropriate parties, linking the tanker movements to broader negotiations that are occurring behind the scenes.

In a related context, reports from The New York Times indicate that at least 13 US military bases have become uninhabitable due to Iranian strikes across the Middle East. This development has forced American troops to vacate certain fortified installations, relocating to hotels and office spaces. The situation has created what officials are describing as a 'remote war'.

According to the Times, "Iran has bombed US bases across the Middle East forcing many American troops to relocate to hotels and office spaces throughout the region," as reported by military personnel and officials.

While discussing these developments, Trump quipped, "I hope I haven't screwed up your negotiations," acknowledging the sensitive nature of the discussions at play.
