Competition Commission of India Reviews IndiGo Flight Disruptions
The Competition Commission of India addresses complaints against IndiGo following significant flight cancellations earlier this month.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has acknowledged complaints regarding IndiGo Airlines after the airline experienced extensive disruptions that led to the cancellation of numerous domestic flights earlier this month. In a press release issued on Thursday, the CCI stated that it is reviewing the situation in light of the widespread flight cancellations and delays that occurred primarily between December 3 and 5, 2025.

The CCI's statement indicated that they are proceeding with the case in accordance with the provisions outlined in the Competition Act of 2002. This act aims to promote fair competition and protect consumer interests within the country.

During this period, IndiGo faced a series of operational and system-related challenges, resulting in significant inconvenience for passengers. The airline issued multiple public advisories and apologies as it worked to normalise its operations and address the backlog of affected travellers.

Pieter Elbers, the Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, announced earlier on the same day that the airline's operations had fully normalised, while also recognising the difficulties faced by passengers during this tumultuous period. In a message to his colleagues, Elbers stated, “Dear IndiGo colleagues, through the storm we are finding our wings again. The worst is behind us. These last two weeks have been very challenging for all of us.”

Elbers expressed gratitude towards the airline's pilots, cabin crew, airport staff, and various operational teams for their dedication and hard work during the crisis.

In a subsequent communication, an IndiGo spokesperson reinforced the message of stability, declaring that operations had been completely stabilised as of December 9, 2025. The spokesperson noted that IndiGo had been gradually increasing its flight capacity and was set to operate over 2,200 flights that day, adhering to a revised schedule.

The CCI's involvement underscores the heightened scrutiny that airlines face regarding their operational reliability, especially in light of recent disruptions that have affected numerous passengers. As the investigation progresses, the CCI aims to ensure that consumer rights are protected and that airlines maintain a standard of service that meets public expectations.
