Amazon Invests Rs 2,800 Crore to Enhance Delivery Network in India
Amazon India will invest over ₹2,800 crore to enhance its operational network, promising faster deliveries across West Bengal and beyond.

Amazon India has announced plans to invest over ₹2,800 crore (approximately USD 300 million) this year to strengthen and upgrade its operations across the country. This initiative is particularly focused on enhancing the logistics network in West Bengal, which has recently seen improvements in delivery times. In a statement, the e-commerce giant highlighted that four new delivery stations opened in West Bengal in 2025 have increased its last-mile delivery capability to over 100 locations. This expansion has enabled 40 per cent of customer orders in the state to be delivered either on the same day or the next.

Karan Chugh, Director of Operations at Amazon India, remarked that this investment is directed towards expanding operational capabilities, upgrading facilities, and enhancing the safety, health, and financial wellbeing of its associates. He stated, "This year, we are investing over ₹2,800 crore to further strengthen these efforts, while continuing to scale our operations network and advance the technology that enables faster, safer, and more reliable deliveries for customers."

With this revamped infrastructure, Amazon has sought to provide a wider selection of products while also supporting local businesses in reaching consumers more efficiently. The company’s logistics network in West Bengal now includes two fulfilment centres, three sortation centres, and more than 100 delivery stations. Notably, the fulfilment centre located in Panchla, Howrah, has a storage capacity of 1.1 million cubic feet, geared towards handling increasing customer demands.

Currently, more than 70,000 sellers and approximately 20,000 local shops from West Bengal are operating on Amazon's platform. The company noted a growing trend in customer demand across various cities including Asansol, Bankura, Durgapur, Howrah, Kharagpur, and Malda, particularly for mobile phones, consumer electronics, beauty products, groceries, and personal care items.

Furthermore, Amazon has indicated that the expanded operational framework is contributing to the creation of numerous direct, indirect, and seasonal employment opportunities in the area. Positions being filled include team leads, process assistants, fulfilment associates, sortation associates, and delivery associates. The company emphasised that its facilities have been designed with safety in mind, featuring enhanced ventilation and improved rest areas for associates.

As Amazon continues to invest in its logistics and technological framework, officials have expressed optimism about future advancements in service efficiency and customer satisfaction throughout West Bengal and India as a whole.
