Xtra Muse 2 Pro: A New Contender in the Compact Camera Market
The Xtra Muse 2 Pro offers similar features to DJI's Osmo Pocket 4P, presenting a strong option for US content creators amid a market restriction.

The compact camera landscape is set to change with the introduction of the Xtra Muse 2 Pro, a dual-lens camera designed to appeal to content creators in the United States. This development comes after DJI's Osmo Pocket 4P revealed impressive specifications but remains unavailable to US consumers due to regulatory issues.

Officially announced yesterday, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P features a 1-inch main sensor, a 3x telephoto secondary lens, and extensive dynamic range capabilities. However, its absence in the US market has paved the way for alternatives like the Xtra Muse 2 Pro, poised to fill this gap.

In a timely reveal, Xtra Technology launched a teaser on social media showcasing the Muse 2 Pro's performance, boasting characteristics that closely resemble those of the DJI product. The Muse 2 Pro is equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor, a telephoto lens similar to its DJI counterpart, a 10-bit X-Log 3 colour profile, and 17 stops of dynamic range. It also features 103GB of internal storage, making it a compelling option for creators in search of high-quality portable solutions.

The camera's smooth gimbal motion and impressive low-light performance were highlighted in the teaser, reinforcing its suitability for various filming conditions.

Adding to its appeal, the Muse 2 Pro is expected to include features such as a 3-axis mechanical gimbal, a rotatable touchscreen, and an advanced tracking system called ActiveTrack 7.0. The previous model from Xtra, the original Muse, has already been noted for its compatibility with DJI's microphone products, indicating that the new model will likely maintain this feature.

There is momentum building for the Muse 2 Pro ahead of its expected release in the summer, potentially by mid-July. With prices rapidly approaching the $700 mark, the Muse 2 Pro presents itself as a viable competitor to the recently launched Insta360 Luna Ultra, which starts at $769.99.

As the appeal of DJI's products face challenges due to regulatory impediments, the introduction of the Xtra Muse 2 Pro may provide US creators with a much-needed option. The evolving market landscape reflects shifting consumer needs and the demand for readily available technology that doesn't compromise on quality.
