West Bengal Chief Minister Inaugurates 2,000-Bed Adani Arogya Mandir

Kolkata, 24 September 2026: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has officially laid the foundation stone for the Adani Arogya Mandir, a 2,000-bed healthcare facility located in Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub, New Town, Kolkata. This project, part of West Bengal’s 2026 Healthcare Vision, is expected to serve over 200,000 inpatients and more than 2 million outpatients each year.

The initiative, executed by the Adani Foundation, represents a significant investment of over Rs 4,000 crore. It will feature a multi-speciality hospital and transitional care facilities, covering an area of 51.75 acres. In addition, the campus will include accommodations for the families of patients, such as a Meditel and Vishram Gruh.

Suvendu Adhikari stated, “This is not just a hospital campus; it will be a fully integrated healthcare city. Nowhere in India is there a hospital of this high standard. The hospital will give a big boost to medical tourism.”

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, remarked that the Arogya Mandir will be a world-class, not-for-profit facility that will allocate 1,000 beds for economically disadvantaged individuals under existing health insurance schemes.

Drawing parallels between West Bengal and the group's previous major projects in Gujarat, Adani announced plans for an investment of over Rs 1 lakh crore in the state by 2035, covering sectors such as renewable energy, power generation, and logistics.

The Adani Arogya Mandir will host a medical college with an annual intake of 150 undergraduate students, alongside further education for over 100 postgraduates and more than 40 super-specialists. The college will support a comprehensive educational ecosystem, including a College of Nursing and programs for allied healthcare professionals.

Initially, the multi-speciality hospital will concentrate on cancer treatment, offering advanced tertiary care. Additionally, the Arogya Mandir will establish a research ecosystem focused on genomics, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and clinical trials.

This collaboration aims to address India’s unique healthcare needs while fostering innovations that can benefit global health challenges. The Adani Foundation has partnered with Mayo Clinic Global Consulting and Singapore’s SingHealth to enhance clinical care and academic medicine within the facility.

By creating this integrated healthcare hub, the Adani Arogya Mandir is expected to mitigate health-related migration from the region and become a key player in the local healthcare landscape.

Alongside the healthcare development, Gautam Adani also unveiled plans for supporting the restoration of Kumartuli Ghat, signing memorandums of understanding with the West Bengal government to preserve the historic Writers' Building and promote Kolkata’s Durga Pujas on an international scale.
