The Vvaan Film Opens Strong at the Box Office with ₹8 Crore

The recently released film, The Vvaan - Force of the Forest, featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, opened in theatres on Friday and made an impressive debut at the box office, accumulating ₹8 crore in net revenue in India on its first day. This performance comes in the face of mixed reviews from both critics and audiences alike.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded an average occupancy rate of 43% across its 6,745 screenings nationwide. Morning viewings registered an occupancy of approximately 12%, which rose to 24% in the afternoon and further climbed to around 27% during the evening shows.

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded about 25% occupancy across 692 screenings, while Pune also registered similar figures from 186 shows. Mumbai stood out with the highest occupancy rate at 32% from 491 screenings. Meanwhile, Bengaluru and Lucknow posted comparable occupancy rates of 26%, with 136 and 134 screenings, respectively.

The Vvaan surpassed the opening day earnings of the 1989 film Batwara 1947, which collected ₹5.75 crore on its first day. Additionally, it outperformed Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan's film Haiwaan, which generated only ₹3 crore on its debut day, marking Haiwaan as a box office disappointment, ultimately earning under ₹15 crore globally.

The Vvaan is currently competing with the previous week's release, Vibe, though it has encountered a subdued response at the box office. After one week, its cumulative net collection stands at ₹11.25 crore.

In addition to Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, the cast includes notable actors such as Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari, Anup Soni, Maniesh Paul, and others. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Arunabh Kumar, the film is a product of Balaji Motion Pictures, TVF Motion Pictures, and 11:11 Productions.

In his review for Hindustan Times, Rishabh Suri offered the film 2.5 stars, noting, "Overall, there was genuine potential in making a fantasy horror around a Goddess and the Chhath Puja. It could have given The Vvaan an identity of its own, rooted in a mythology that feels distinctly Indian. Instead, the film gets distracted by everything around its central idea." The film's integration of its mythological premise was critiqued as lacking focus.
