Union Minister Urges Students to Approach NEET Re-Exam with Confidence
As 22 lakh candidates prepare to take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-exam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged them to participate with confidence and without anxiety. The examination follows the cancellation of the original test on May 3 due to allegations of a potential paper leak, triggering an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Speaking ahead of the re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026, Mr. Pradhan expressed his faith in the National Testing Agency (NTA), local governments, and the education community. He stated, "Today, around 22 lakh students are going to sit for NEET after a short while. They should sit fearlessly and free of anxiety. They will certainly do well. My many good wishes to the students."
In his remarks, the Minister highlighted the significance of mental well-being for students, asking the public to refrain from actions that could harm their mental health. He mentioned, "Please do not play with the future of India's new generation. Do not do anything that will impact the mental health of children. After a few hours, children are going to appear for the examination."
Mr. Pradhan further cautioned against negative influences that could distress students, alluding to the behaviour of some individuals he referred to as “so-called responsible people” who, in his view, acted with improper intentions prior to the examination. He encouraged these individuals to act responsibly to avoid causing further distress.
The re-examination aims to restore confidence among candidates and ensure the integrity of the testing process. As the NTA prepares to conduct the exam, many stakeholders are keenly observing the situation to ensure a smooth experience for candidates. The focus remains on supporting the students as they transition into a crucial phase of their academic careers.
The NEET is a competitive examination that determines students' eligibility for admission to various medical colleges across India. It is essential for aspiring medical professionals and affects their future careers in healthcare.
