Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district killed two suspected militants during an operation amid difficult conditions.

In Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, two suspected militants were shot dead in a gunfight with security personnel on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Indian Army. The Army's White Knight Corps stated that the operation, named Operation Sohan, was initiated following intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the Brattal area.

During the operation, security forces observed suspicious activity and undertook a search operation. The suspected militants allegedly opened fire on the security forces, which led to an armed confrontation where both militants were killed.

Officials indicated that arms and ammunition were seized from the militants. Efforts are currently ongoing to establish their identities and affiliations with various militant groups. This counter-terrorism operation took place under challenging conditions, described as “hostile weather, difficult terrain, and poor visibility.”

Personnel from the White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force were involved in this operation. The Army announced that the search is still in progress, with security forces remaining active to monitor any continuing threats in the area.
