Tumbbad 2 Set for December 2027 Release: A Horror Sequel Unveiled
The sequel to the acclaimed horror fantasy Tumbbad is set to release on December 3, 2027, promising a grander cinematic experience.

The makers of the highly anticipated sequel, Tumbbad 2, have officially revealed its release date, confirming that it will be in cinemas on December 3, 2027. This announcement follows the recent re-release of the original film, which rekindled interest due to its unique storytelling and visual design.

Tumbbad, initially released in 2018, has garnered a significant following and critical acclaim for its blend of folklore, mythology, and horror. The film's distinctive identity has led many to consider it one of the standout genre films in contemporary Hindi cinema. The renewed interest in Tumbbad was evident following its successful theatrical re-release in 2024.

Sohum Shah, who plays a central role in Tumbbad 2, expressed his excitement about the direction of the sequel. "Tumbbad has always been very special to me, and with Tumbbad 2, the idea is to take that world forward in a way that feels deeper and more expansive," he stated. Shah highlighted the focus on building upon the rich mythology and atmosphere that fans connected with in the first film while introducing new elements to the story.

Dr. Jayantilal Gada of Pen Studios, which is backing the project, shared insights on the scale of the sequel. He remarked, "Tumbbad 2 is envisioned as a grander cinematic experience, with a story that deepens the universe while keeping audiences thoroughly engaged." Gada reinforced Pen Studios' commitment to high-quality storytelling and immersive experiences for viewers.

Director Adesh Prasad acknowledged the challenge of creating a follow-up to a film with a strong legacy. He remarked, "Taking this story forward has been both exciting and challenging, especially because the first film has such a strong identity." Prasad emphasised the team's goal of retaining the essence of the original while expanding the narrative and visual aspects.

As the release date approaches, attention is expected to shift towards further promotional efforts, including casting announcements and first-look materials for what is poised to be a significant entry in the horror genre. Tumbbad 2, produced by Sohum Shah Films and distributed by Pen Marudhar, aims to captivate audiences once again with its blend of horror and mythology.

With such high expectations for Tumbbad 2, industry observers and fans alike will be eagerly awaiting more updates as the production moves forward toward its December 2027 debut.
