Suriya and Jyotika Renew Wedding Vows After 20 Years of Marriage
Indian actors Suriya and Jyotika, celebrated for their contributions to Tamil cinema, recently marked two decades of marriage by renewing their vows in a heartfelt ceremony. The couple, who tied the knot in Chennai on September 11, 2006, gathered family and close friends to commemorate this significant milestone.
Jyotika shared her emotions through an Instagram post where she reflected on their journey together. She described their vow renewal as 'THE SEQUEL — A vow renewal, celebrating our 20 years of love and war.' The actress emphasised the importance of acknowledging the imperfections and adjustments that come with a long-term relationship.
In a video from the ceremony, Suriya appeared visibly moved as he saw Jyotika enter the venue in a classic white bridal gown. Their two children, a daughter, Diya, born in 2007, and a son, Dev, born in 2010, were present, adding to the joyous atmosphere. Family and friends showered the couple with flower petals as they exited the church.
During the event, Suriya was seen sharing candid moments with his brother, actor Karthi, who assisted him before the ceremony. The couple also posed for pictures together, capturing the essence of their enduring relationship.
In her heartfelt note, Jyotika outlined her vows, expressing commitment to positivity and gratitude in their lives together. She wrote, "I vow to be a happy person — because I choose to see only life's positive side." She also spoke about the importance of health, family, and the sacrifices made over their years together.
The couple first met on the set of the film Poovellam Kettuppar in 1999 and started dating soon after. While Suriya has maintained a prolific acting career, Jyotika has taken a more intermittent approach to her film work. Currently, he is preparing for the release of his latest project, Scene.
Despite the ups and downs typical of any marriage, Jyotika concluded her message by expressing hope for their future, writing, "So here’s to our next twenty years — The imperfect us, with the perfect understanding." This vow renewal showcases the couple's dedication to each other and their family, reinforcing the bonds created over their long journey together in both love and life.
