Social Activist Anna Hazare Admitted to Hospital in Mumbai
Anna Hazare is hospitalised in Mumbai's ICU due to dehydration and kidney issues following a viral infection.

Indian social activist Anna Hazare has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Bombay Hospital in Mumbai. This follows complications from a viral infection that resulted in acute dehydration and kidney problems. Dr Gautam Bhansali is overseeing Hazare's treatment, which is still in the diagnostic phase, as tests are currently being conducted to ascertain the full extent of his medical issues. Hazare, a prominent figure in India's anti-corruption movement, gained national recognition during the India Against Corruption campaign in 2011. Previously, he was well-known in Maharashtra for his extensive social work. Recently, Hazare engaged with Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers, emphasising the importance of integrity and selfless service for the youth, whom he believes are vital for the country's future. These probationers had visited his village, Ralegan Siddhi, to study effective rural transformation and watershed development initiatives. In his remarks regarding a protest, Hazare reiterated that essential public issues should be resolved through peaceful dialogue rather than confrontation. He mentioned, 'I have conducted 22 hunger strikes, but I never resorted to violence.' Stressing the necessity of dialogue, he added, 'Creating tension and going down the wrong path will not solve anything. Dialogue leads to solutions.' Hazare advocates for the government to heed citizens' voices, asserting that true welfare can only be achieved through democratic processes. He stated, 'Whatever happens through democracy happens. One should always follow the path of democracy.' As Hazare remains under medical care, many citizens and political observers are watching closely, given his significant influence on social issues in India.
