Smriti Mandhana Celebrates Haldi Ceremony Ahead of Wedding
Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana recently celebrated her Haldi ceremony, a traditional pre-wedding event, in a lively atmosphere filled with dancing and joy. The ceremony took place as the countdown to her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal, scheduled for November 23, began.
Dressed in a bright yellow outfit, Mandhana was surrounded by her teammates and friends, who joined her on the dance floor, creating an energetic atmosphere. Notable participants included fellow players Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh, Shivali Shinde, Radha Yadav, and Jemimah Rodrigues. All the attendees wore yellow attire, matching the festive theme of the occasion.
The celebration was marked by traditional music, with dhol beats resonating throughout the venue, adding to the festive spirit. Clips of the event, showcasing Mandhana dancing joyfully with her teammates, quickly gained popularity on social media, highlighting the strong bonds among the players.
Shafali Verma, one of Mandhana’s teammates, shared a video of the celebration online, captioning it “Ladki Wale,” which translates to “the bride’s side.” This gesture emphasised the close-knit relationship within the women’s cricket team, particularly following their recent success at the Women’s World Cup.
Mandhana played a pivotal role in India’s triumph at the tournament, scoring a total of 434 runs across nine innings, the highest by any Indian player in a single edition of the World Cup. Her performance included a remarkable century and two half-centuries, showcasing her skill and determination on the field.
The Haldi ceremony not only served as a festive celebration but also as a reunion for many of the World Cup-winning players. Shreyanka Patil, making a rare public appearance since her last match in the 2024 T20 World Cup, added a special touch to the festivities, reminding fans of the team’s journey and camaraderie.
In the lead-up to the wedding, Palash Muchhal shared a heartwarming video of his proposal to Mandhana, which took place at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium. The proposal was a touching moment, captured on camera, where Muchhal blindfolded Mandhana before revealing his intentions by getting down on one knee with a ring and bouquet of roses. He shared this intimate moment on social media, captioning it, “She said yes.”
As the wedding date approaches, anticipation continues to build among fans and followers of both Mandhana and Muchhal. The Haldi ceremony has set a joyful tone for the upcoming celebrations, which will likely include more events leading up to their wedding. Despite their public lives, the couple has kept many details private, adding an element of intrigue to the festivities.
With vibrant celebrations ahead, Smriti Mandhana’s journey towards marriage unfolds against a backdrop of sporting success and personal joy, reflecting a significant time in her life and career.
