During the meeting held on May 30, 2026, a leader present remarked, "The party has suggested that Mr. Siddaramaiah's experience is crucial for Congress’s success at the Centre." Despite this encouragement, Siddaramaiah has firmly expressed his desire to remain focused on state issues. He stated that he plans to continue his political career in Karnataka, serving as a legislator for the remaining two years of his term.

In a press conference earlier this week, Siddaramaiah made it clear that he had turned down offers to join the Rajya Sabha, India's upper house of Parliament. "I have conveyed to the Congress high command my interest in remaining in state politics, rather than pursuing a role at the national level," he said. This position reflects his commitment to local governance amidst ongoing developments in Karnataka's political landscape.
