Severe Heatwave Hits Uttar Pradesh, Banda Records 45.6°C
Banda's temperature soared to 45.6°C amid a widespread heatwave in Uttar Pradesh, with other regions also experiencing extreme weather conditions.

Banda, located in Uttar Pradesh's Bundelkhand region, recorded an exceptionally high temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. This increase in temperature is part of a severe heatwave currently affecting several areas of the state, as reported by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Other regions in Uttar Pradesh also reported elevated temperatures. Orai reached 43.8 degrees Celsius, while Jhansi recorded 42.4 degrees Celsius. The towns of Fatehgarh and Hamirpur had temperatures of 42.2 degrees Celsius each, and Agra experienced 42.1 degrees Celsius.

As communities contend with the intense heat, locals are taking measures to cope with the rising temperatures. Many have sought refuge in shaded areas or frequented cooler places to avoid the midday sun.

"The heatwave conditions are expected to last, and we advise residents to stay hydrated and keep cool as much as possible," an official from the IMD stated. The heatwave is indicative of the broader climatic trends affecting the region, especially in the summer months.

The IMD has urged the public to exercise caution during this period, advising against outdoor activities during peak heat hours. Further analysis from the department suggests that climatic conditions may continue to create challenges for residents in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in the Bundelkhand region, known for its vulnerability to extreme weather.

As people in Uttar Pradesh cope with this severe weather, nearby regions are also experiencing fluctuations in their weather patterns. The Indian Meteorological Department continues to monitor the situation closely, providing updates as conditions evolve. Weather forecasts indicate that while this heatwave is significant, sporadic rainfall could also emerge, offering some reprieve in the coming days.

Given the impact on daily activities and health, authorities are emphasising preventative measures for communities across Uttar Pradesh to mitigate the effects of such extreme heat conditions.
