Saudi Arabia Prepares for Hajj as Pilgrims Head to Mina
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed that all preparations for this year's Hajj pilgrimage have been finalised as pilgrims prepare to travel to Mina. The rituals commence on Monday with the Day of Tarwiyah, a significant event marking the beginning of the annual pilgrimage. This year, more than 1.5 million international pilgrims will be joining hundreds of thousands from within Saudi Arabia. As pilgrims journey to the tent city of Mina, they recite the talbiyah, a form of glorification of God, echoing the actions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Ministry has instituted a comprehensive system aimed at facilitating the movement of pilgrims to their designated camps and ensuring the quality of services at the holy sites. This coordinated effort involves not just the local ministry but several other relevant authorities to ensure seamless transport and guidance. In preparation for the Hajj season, the ministry's focus has been on maximising the efficacy of accommodations, catering, and transportation services within Mina. Enhanced monitoring measures have been implemented to detect and address any challenges or issues that may arise. Furthermore, these initiatives are designed to work in conjunction with existing operational centres to monitor all activities and ensure high standards of service for the pilgrims. Since the beginning of the month of Dhul Qada, over 83,000 inspections and field visits have been made to various service facilities to confirm their readiness and compliance with established standards. These visits aim to optimise the experience for pilgrims by ensuring immediate resolutions to any issues encountered, thereby enhancing the quality of their overall experience during their stay at the holy sites.
