Oscar winner Russell Crowe joins Priyanka Chopra Jonas in the sci-fi action thriller 'Bluefly', directed by Nimród Antal.

Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are set to star in the upcoming sci-fi action film 'Bluefly'. Directed by Nimród Antal, known for his work on 'Predators', the film is penned by David Frigerio, William Eubank, and Carlyle Eubank.

The narrative centres on a grieving United Nations translator who is unwittingly involved in a covert operation to recover a mysterious downed aircraft in the Congo. The synopsis indicates a struggle as a Special Operations team navigates through militia-dominated areas, revealing that their mission may not be as straightforward as it seems.

The film is produced by a collaborative team including Michael Jefferson of Polite Society, David Frigerio of Broken Open Pictures, and several others from Highland Film Group. Highland Film Group is also in charge of worldwide distribution, with plans to initiate sales at the forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Filming is expected to commence later this year on Australia's Gold Coast, with high expectations surrounding the film. Arianne Fraser, CEO of Highland Film Group, expressed enthusiasm about the project, saying, “We have a stellar cast led by Russell Crowe and Priyanka Chopra Jonas who will ignite the screen in this high-stakes, sci-fi thrill ride with layers of depth.”

Highland Film Group's Chief Operating Officer, Delphine Perrier, described 'Bluefly' as “heart-pounding entertainment with a complex story full of unexpected twists.” Antal added, “Bluefly is an intense, character-driven thriller wrapped inside a bold science-fiction premise. It’s the kind of film I live to make — grounded, propulsive, and full of dread.”

Crowe is widely recognised for his roles in films like 'Gladiator' and 'L.A. Confidential'. He recently acted in the film 'Nuremberg' and has a range of upcoming projects including Netflix’s 'Unabomber' and a remake of 'Highlander'.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has been gaining acclaim in both Bollywood and Hollywood, previously led the film 'Heads of State' alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. She is also set to star in S.S. Rajamouli’s 'Varanasi', scheduled for release in April 2027. With these two stars at the forefront, 'Bluefly' promises to be an exciting addition to their impressive portfolios.
