Royal Enfield Reports 7% Increase in October Motorcycle Sales
Royal Enfield sees 7% year-on-year growth in October sales, boosted by festive demand and significant export gains.

Royal Enfield has announced a year-on-year sales increase of 7% for October, with total motorcycle sales reaching 133,442 units. The growth is attributed to strong demand during the festive season. Domestic sales rose by 4% to 121,527 units, while exports experienced a noteworthy surge of 47% to 11,915 units.

A detailed analysis reveals that motorcycles with engine capacities exceeding 350cc recorded an impressive growth of 18%, significantly surpassing the 5% increase observed in smaller-engine models. This trend indicates a growing preference among consumers for higher-capacity motorcycles during the festive period.

In addition to the positive sales figures for October, data indicates that the company's combined sales for September and October reached a record 267,400 units, marking Royal Enfield's best performance during the festive season to date.

The majority of the sales, approximately 91%, took place in India, highlighting the domestic market's crucial role in the company's overall performance. Despite a slight decline in month-on-month figures, particularly in exports, the current figures suggest a robust demand for the company's offerings.

According to B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, the company is aiming to meet the high demand by increasing production levels. This includes maintaining popularity for established models like the Classic 350 and expanding their offerings, particularly with the newer Himalayan 440.

In terms of broader sales trends, cumulative figures for the financial year from April to October indicate a total of 842,538 units sold, reflecting a 17.53% increase compared to the previous year. While domestic volumes have seen a 19.62% rise, export growth appears to have levelled off, showing only a marginal increase of 0.59%.

Looking forward, Royal Enfield is set to introduce new models and enhance its retail presence, particularly for its Flying Flea electric motorcycle brand. The upcoming EICMA event is anticipated to showcase the production-ready Himalayan 750 and potentially reveal details about the Continental GT 750, indicating ongoing efforts to expand their larger-capacity motorcycle range. Further details regarding specifications and pricing are expected soon.
