Red Fort Blast in Delhi Coincides with Viral Reddit Post
A Reddit post questioning police presence went viral hours before a deadly blast near Delhi's Red Fort, raising concerns and investigations.

A tragic explosion occurred near the historic Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, resulting in the deaths of at least nine individuals and injuring over twenty others. The blast, which took place at approximately 6:50 PM, has drawn significant public attention, particularly due to a Reddit post made just hours earlier that speculated on the heavy police presence in the area.

The Reddit user, a Class 12 student, posted around 4 PM, expressing curiosity over the unusual number of security forces in Old Delhi, specifically mentioning the Red Fort and its adjoining metro station. "I just came back from my school and not lying everywhere there was just police and army and media like on the Red Fort on metro everywhere," the user wrote, questioning if something was amiss in the city.

The post quickly gained traction, amassing over 2,500 upvotes and being widely shared on social media platforms. Commenters noted the eerie timing of the post, suggesting that the user had unknowingly foreshadowed the tragic event. One user remarked, "Bro tried to warn us all (unknowingly)." Another user, Tushar Mittal, who claimed to be near the explosion, described a massive blast that was felt across a significant distance, indicating its intensity.

In response to the incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that multiple agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the anti-terror unit of the Delhi Police, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the explosion. Shah assured the public that all possibilities would be explored, including whether the heightened security was a result of prior intelligence or merely a routine procedure.

While investigators have not yet established a direct connection between the car explosion and any terrorist activity, they are reviewing the timing and content of the viral Reddit post as part of their inquiry. Officials have urged caution against jumping to conclusions regarding the nature of the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, emphasising that those responsible for the explosion would face justice. "The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice," he stated. The incident has sparked discussions about security measures in major urban areas and the potential need for increased vigilance.

As investigations continue, both the local community and the nation await further updates on the circumstances surrounding the blast and the ongoing efforts to ensure public safety. Authorities have confirmed that they are taking all necessary steps to address the situation and prevent future incidents.
