Ranveer Singh Threatened via WhatsApp After Shooting Incident
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly received an extortion threat through a WhatsApp voice message, where the sender demanded a substantial sum of money amounting to crores of rupees. In response to the threat, Singh alerted the Mumbai Police, which led to an increase in security measures around his residence. The sender of the voice note is alleged to be associated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
As investigations are underway, the police are working to track down the individual responsible for sending the threatening message. The immediate action taken by authorities has included bolstering security at the housing complex where Ranveer Singh resides with his wife, actress Deepika Padukone.
The management of the residential society has contacted the police seeking clarification regarding the increased police presence and the deployment of private bodyguards. Residents have expressed concerns over the inconvenience caused by the number of armed guards navigating common areas of the building. They are seeking reassurance and more information about the ongoing situation.
This incident comes in the wake of a firing event that occurred outside the residence of Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty on February 8. Reports indicate that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for that attack. The shooting resulted in several rounds being fired at Shetty's home, with one bullet damaging the glass facade of a gym located within the building. Following the incident, Mumbai Police apprehended five suspects believed to have connections with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Authorities confirmed that the perpetrators opened fire on the first floor of the nine-storey building shortly after midnight. The gang publicly acknowledged their involvement via a social media post, and a purported member of the gang, identifying himself as Arju Bishnoi, released an audio statement claiming responsibility for the shooting.
Ranveer Singh was last seen in the successful film 'Dhurandhar', directed by Aditya Dhar. The actor is currently preparing for the sequel, titled 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', which is set to hit theatres on 19 March 2023. As the investigation continues, further updates regarding both the threat and the shooting incident are expected to emerge in the coming days.
