Ranveer Singh Departing from Don 3 Amid Dhurandhar's Success
Ranveer Singh, the acclaimed Indian actor, is reportedly stepping away from the much-anticipated film Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar. This decision comes on the heels of his recent success with the action thriller Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar. The film has garnered significant attention, with projections indicating it may reach a gross of ₹600 crore by Thursday, and potentially nearing ₹700 crore over its lifetime earnings.
Following the triumph of Dhurandhar, Singh is reassessing his film choices. According to a report from Pinkvilla, the actor has expressed a desire to collaborate with renowned filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Atlee, and prefers to avoid being typecast in gangster roles, especially since Dhurandhar has already established his presence in that genre. As a result, Singh has requested that Jai Mehta, the producer of his upcoming project, fast-track the filming of Pralay, a zombie thriller.
Pralay, produced by Applause Entertainment, revolves around a gripping narrative that explores the lengths to which a man will go to protect his family amidst chaos. With Singh now prioritising this project, he is actively involved in coordinating schedules and ensuring that production begins sooner than initially planned.
Previously, Singh was set to commence preparations for Don 3 right after the release of Dhurandhar. However, these new developments have prompted the producers to search for another actor to take on the role of Don, with plans to start filming by late January 2026. In a related update, Kriti Sanon has been confirmed as the film's leading lady, stepping in for Kiara Advani, who had to withdraw from the project due to personal reasons.
The Don franchise has been a significant part of Indian cinema, and the anticipation for Don 3 remains high, despite the recent changes in the cast. Filming is expected to take place across various European locations, promising a lavish production.
As the entertainment industry watches closely, the emphasis on Singh's decision underscores the evolving landscape of Bollywood, where actors are increasingly selective about the roles they undertake. With the excitement surrounding Dhurandhar's success, the focus now shifts to how Singh's new direction will impact his career and the future of Don 3.
