Radhika Apte Discusses Impact of Leaked Intimate Scene on Privacy

Indian actress Radhika Apte has spoken candidly about the emotional turmoil she faced following the leak of an intimate clip from one of her films. During a recent interview, Apte reflected on how the incident affected her daily life, leaving her afraid to leave her home for four days.

Radhika Apte, known for her roles in various acclaimed films including the anthology series 'Lust Stories 3', shared her experience while discussing the complexities that actors encounter when filming intimate scenes. In her conversation with India Today, she expressed concerns over personal safety and privacy, stating, "Once something I had done was leaked, I literally couldn’t step out of the house for four days. The problem is that it can come home very quickly. Your doorbell can ring, and somebody can be outside your house because they felt offended. So, it’s not that easy. It’s much more complicated."

The actress recounted an incident when her stylist's driver became fixated on the clip and enquired about visiting her home, which exacerbated her anxiety about the leak. Apte mentioned, "My watchman had seen it as well. Things like that started happening, and it became very difficult to deal with."

Amidst these challenges, Radhika felt it necessary to ensure her safety by discussing the situation with her team. She stated, "I eventually called my driver and my spot dada and told them, 'There is a clip that has been leaked. Have you seen it? Because if you have not, I’ll send it to you. Watch it. If you’re okay with it, then you have to protect me. Otherwise, do not work with me. Here’s your salary; you can go.'"

She noted that both her driver and the spot assistant assured her of their support during this challenging time. The emotional burden was especially heavy as she was living alone in an apartment.

In the same discussion, Radhika Apte candidly admitted that she had previously turned down a project due to fear about the political climate at the time, stating it was the first time she allowed fear to influence her professional decisions. Radhika described her feelings of shame regarding this but ultimately prioritised the well-being of her family over potential opportunities. She also revealed that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had advised her against participating in that particular project.

In addition to her professional challenges, Radhika Apte has been balancing her career and motherhood. She welcomed her first child, a daughter, in December 2024, and quickly resumed her professional commitments, illustrating how she manages to juggle both roles. Radhika has been vocal about the realities of motherhood while maintaining her career, including moments like expressing breast milk during her time at the BAFTAs. She continues to appear in the film industry, with her latest project 'Lust Stories 3' now available for streaming on Netflix.
