Prime Minister Modi Engages Youth in Seva Sankalp Yatra Initiative

On September 24, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a virtual interaction with participants of the Seva Yatra, which is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. The initiative began on Modi's birthday, September 17, intending to commemorate his 25 years in public service. The Yatra involves young participants travelling from Modi's birthplace, Vadnagar in Gujarat, to his karmabhoomi, Varanasi.

During this interaction, Modi encouraged the 'Seva Yatris' to share their experiences and learnings accumulated on their journey. The ambitious programme, featuring ten teams travelling from Vadnagar to Varanasi and another ten in reverse, aims to engage around 1,000 youths. Over a period of 20 days, the Yatras will cross through ten states, focusing on grassroots community engagement and exploring welfare schemes.

Modi noted the importance of not just the journey itself but also the interactions and understanding developed through it. An official statement revealed that Modi remarked, "A yatra is not merely about travelling from one place to another; it involves meeting people and translating the spirit of service into action."

The Seva Sankalp Yatra aligns with Modi's vision for building a developed India by the year 2047, underlining the crucial role of youth in promoting service at the grassroots level. The initiative has garnered significant participation, with 20 yatras and various community service activities being undertaken across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

In Madhya Pradesh alone, 13 yatras were actively engaged in community service involving water conservation, tree plantation, and welfare activities such as organ donation pledges. Additional involvement included interactions with locals and beneficiaries of government schemes.

Hemang Joshi, the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), expressed that hearing directly from the Prime Minister was invigorating for participants. He stated, "Today’s interaction with Prime Minister Modi was a powerful moment for every Seva Yatri. This was not just an address; it was a source of energy for the entire Yatra."

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan reflects the BJP's broader strategy of fostering public participation and emphasising the essential role of youth in nation-building efforts. Key figures from various states including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and other ministers attended the engagements, showcasing a unified effort towards community service and public welfare across the regions involved.
