President Droupadi Murmu Promotes Affordable Healthcare in Mumbai
On February 24, 2026, President Droupadi Murmu announced a national campaign entitled ‘Saving Lives and Building a Healthier Bharat’ in Mumbai. The initiative aims to promote affordable, world-class healthcare across India. The event took place at Lok Bhavan and included the participation of notable figures such as Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In her address, President Murmu emphasised the importance of making quality healthcare accessible for all citizens. "Affordable world-class healthcare for all should be everyone’s mission," she stated, expressing confidence that India could emerge as a reputable global healthcare destination.
The President's visit to Mumbai coincided with her scheduled two-day stay in Maharashtra. Upon her arrival at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, she was greeted by several state officials, including Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Ajit Pawar. The campaign and the President’s call for heightened social responsibility among private healthcare institutions are expected to encourage a collaborative effort towards improving India’s health standards.
Officials are hopeful that the campaign will not only raise awareness about public health issues but also foster a sense of accountability within healthcare providers to contribute positively to the community. Many stakeholders in the healthcare sector have been invited to support this initiative, which aims fundamentally to improve the quality and reach of healthcare in India.
As part of her tour, President Murmu is set to inaugurate the National Arogya Fair in Buldhana, Maharashtra on February 25, which will further highlight the government's commitment to health welfare initiatives and the importance of accessible healthcare services throughout the country.
