PM Modi to Launch Over Rs 18,777 Crore Development Projects in Gujarat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation for development initiatives worth over Rs 18,777 crore in Gujarat during his visit to Surat on June 5.
Significant Initiatives
Among the prominent initiatives are eight projects from the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), valued at Rs 1,063.43 crore. These projects aim to bolster industrial infrastructure and enhance environmental management systems in South Gujarat.
Out of the total investment, projects exceeding ₹894 crore will be situated in Bharuch district, while Valsad district will benefit from investments totalling ₹169.3 crore. In Bharuch, Mr. Modi will inaugurate six GIDC projects, with Bharuch recognised as a vital centre for Gujarat's chemical and petrochemical industries.
A flagship initiative is the Rs 474.61-crore offshore and onshore effluent disposal pipeline at the Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR). Officials noted that the 90 million litres per day (MLD) capacity pipeline will connect the Saykha Pumping Station to the Dahej landfall point while incorporating civil structures, electro-mechanical systems, and monitoring infrastructure. This project is projected to significantly enhance effluent management in the Dahej-Saykha industrial area.
Infrastructure Development
The Dahej PCPIR is currently home to more than 1,000 industrial units operating in various sectors, including chemicals, textiles, pharmaceuticals, dyes, and engineering. Another critical project is the infrastructure development of roads, stormwater drainage systems, and a central drain at the Bulk Drug Park in Jambusar, costing Rs 274.96 crore. This development is intended to support the pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem and promote the growth of the pharmaceutical cluster.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a 30 MLD drainage pumping station for the Dahej-2 Industrial Estate. This facility will enhance the industrial drainage and effluent conveyance systems, incorporating a rising main that connects the Suva Pumping Station to the final pumping station.
Further improvements are planned at the Panoli Extension Industrial Estate, including the establishment of road networks, water supply systems, cross-drainage structures, and street lighting. An intermediate booster pumping station on the Ankleshwar effluent transmission pipeline will also be unveiled, aimed at improving the effectiveness of effluent transportation and ensuring environmental compliance.
In Valsad district, two major GIDC projects at the Sarigam Industrial Estate are set to be inaugurated, valued at over ₹169 crore. The Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) capacity has been expanded from 15 MLD to 25 MLD, significantly enhancing treatment capabilities and reinforcing compliance with environmental regulations. This project encompasses design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and long-term operation and maintenance.
A new high-density polyethylene (HDPE)-based onshore and offshore outfall pipeline system will also be introduced, along with a sump and pumping station to enable the safe discharge of treated effluents into the deep sea. This project includes a pipeline network that efficiently connects the pumping station, landfall chamber, and offshore discharge point.
Officials have stated that these initiatives will strengthen industrial infrastructure, improve environmental management, and support sustained industrial growth across South Gujarat.
