Pakistan Reveals Squads for Women’s Asia Cup and Asian Games
Pakistan has officially announced the 15-member squads for the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games, with skipper Fatima Sana set to lead the team after her absence during the Sri Lanka T20I series. Her participation was due to her involvement in The Hundred tournament.
The squad for the Women’s Asia Cup includes: Fatima Sana (captain), Ayesha Zafar, Eman Naseer, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Momina Riasat, Muneeba Ali Siddiqui (wicketkeeper), Najiha Alvi, Nashra Sundhu, Sadia Iqbal, Saira Jabeen, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.
Key players scheduled to participate in both tournaments are Muneeba Ali, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Ayesha Zafar, Gull Feroza, Saira Jabeen, Eyman Fatima, Eman Naseer, Umm-e-Hani, Tuba Hassan, Nashra Sundhu, and Momina Riasat.
For the Asian Games, the Pakistan squad remains similar, with Fatima Sana as captain, along with Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Eman Naseer, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Humna Bilal, Momina Riasat, Muneeba Ali (wicketkeeper), Nashra Sundhu, Saira Jabeen, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Tasmia Rubab, Tuba Hassan, and Umm-e-Hani.
In the Women’s Asia Cup, Pakistan is placed in Group A, alongside Hong Kong – China, India, and Thailand. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 28 August to 13 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan's fixtures for the Women’s Asia Cup are as follows:
- 1 September – Pakistan vs Thailand
- 5 September – Pakistan vs India
- 7 September – Pakistan vs Hong Kong, China
- 10 September – Semi-final 1
- 11 September – Semi-final 2
- 13 September – Final
The Asian Games will commence in Japan on 17 September, with the Bronze and Gold Medal matches slated for 22 September. All events will be held at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi. Historically, Pakistan has found success at the Asian Games, winning Gold Medals in both 2010 and 2014, and finishing fourth in the most recent edition in 2022.
