Pakistan Offers Support for Syria's Reconstruction Efforts

Pakistan has expressed its readiness to assist Syria in its reconstruction and economic recovery efforts, as stated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This announcement followed a meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During their discussions, Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's support for Syria's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He noted the historical bond between the two nations, stating, "I was pleased to meet Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York."

Sharif further emphasised Pakistan’s strong commitment to bolstering the long-standing and fraternal relations with Syria. The talks primarily centred around enhancing bilateral ties through increased high-level engagement, alongside cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, education, and information technology.

In addition to collaborative efforts in various sectors, Sharif indicated that Pakistan stands ready to play a significant role in supporting Syria’s reconstruction. He remarked that such contributions would help fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people for lasting peace and prosperity.

The leaders also addressed several regional developments, including the ongoing situation in Palestine. President Ahmad al-Sharaa was accompanied by Foreign and Expatriates Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani during this important meeting.

The discussions reflect both nations' intent to foster a deeper partnership amid various international challenges, aiming to strengthen not only bilateral relations but also address regional issues of mutual concern. The commitments made underscore a significant step towards enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Syria.
