OPPO raises prices on eight smartphone models in India, citing rising AI-driven memory costs. Further increases anticipated due to market pressures.

OPPO, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has announced another round of price increases for several of its smartphone models in India. This marks the company's third adjustment in less than a month, driven by escalating component costs in the industry. Effective from June 22, 2026, the latest price hikes impact eight variants, including models from the A6, A6 Pro, and F33 5G lineups.

The price adjustments range from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000, representing percentage increases between 5.26% and 9.38%. The F33 5G (6GB+128GB) variant has witnessed the steepest rise of ₹3,000, increasing from ₹31,999 to ₹34,999, which translates to a 9.38% increase. The A6 5G (4GB+128GB) has also seen a significant adjustment, rising from ₹21,999 to ₹23,999, reflecting a total increase of 9.09%.

The decision to raise prices comes as OPPO cited rising memory costs from suppliers, a situation exacerbated by growing demand related to artificial intelligence technologies. This trend of price hikes is not unique to OPPO; multiple smartphone manufacturers have made similar revisions amid rising costs for memory chips and components.

According to the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), current price hikes are likely to persist. Kailash Lakhyani, Founder Chairman of AIMRA, expressed concerns regarding the impact on sales volumes due to repeated increases. "Consumers should not wait to make their purchases because prices are expected to continue increasing," Lakhyani stated, emphasising the factors contributing to the trend, including Bill of Materials (BOM) costs, chipset shortages, and overall inflation.

The latest price modifications follow prior adjustments in June, where OPPO raised prices on its K14x 5G series, with hikes predominantly around ₹1,000. Earlier, on May 26, OPPO adjusted prices for its flagship Find X9 series, with significant increases of ₹10,000 across the premium models.

This pricing pressure is part of a broader trend affecting the smartphone market in India. Research from Counterpoint noted that India’s smartphone shipments fell by 3% year-on-year for the January-March quarter of 2026, marking the lowest quarterly performance in six years. Contributing factors included supply-side cost increases, manufacturer-led price hikes, and subdued consumer demand.

Industry insights suggest that brands like Samsung and Apple may also anticipate price hikes, as manufacturers continue to grapple with elevated supply chain costs. With smartphone prices expected to increase further, consumers are urged to make timely purchases to avoid higher costs in the future.
