National Stock Exchange Shares Set to Debut on BSE Today
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is scheduled to make its trading debut on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today, having garnered significant investor interest during its initial public offering (IPO). This listing marks a new chapter for the exchange, which has been a dominant player in India’s financial markets.
The NSE’s IPO, which raised ₹22,561.57 crore, was oversubscribed by 5.71 times. The offer was particularly popular among qualified institutional buyers, with this segment being subscribed 12.68 times, while the non-institutional investor segment saw a subscription of 6.55 times. Retail investors also showed strong interest, with subscriptions for this portion reaching 1.39 times.
As of September 23, 2026, the grey market premium (GMP) for the NSE IPO stood at ₹59, suggesting an estimated opening price of ₹1,844 per share, a potential increase of 3.31% over the upper issue price of ₹1,785. The GMP is an unofficial indicator and may vary until the actual listing occurs.
The NSE has a proud history, holding a significant share of the Indian stock market. According to recent reports, it commands around 93% of the cash segment and nearly 100% in equity futures trading, alongside strong positions in options and currency derivatives.
Earlier assessments by leading brokerages, including Macquarie, affirm the expected strong performance following the listing. The brokerage has issued an ‘outperform’ rating with a target price of ₹1,965 per share, highlighting the NSE’s 'near-monopoly' status in several market segments.
Financial performance indicators from FY26 demonstrate robust profitability, with reported revenues of ₹16,601 crore and a profit after tax of ₹10,302 crore. This financial robustness positions the NSE favourably compared to other exchanges globally.
Investors are keenly awaiting the official start of trading, expected to commence around 10 AM today. The initial response indicates that retail investors will receive allotments worth over ₹7,800 crore, marking a historic milestone for IPO allocations in India. Lines of communication to track the live updates will be made available on major financial news platforms as the story unfolds throughout the trading day.
