Mumbai Traffic Jam Incident: Woman's Viral Video Sparks Discussion
Teena Choudhry shares her side of the story after a viral video capturing her confrontation with a minister during a traffic jam in Mumbai.

Teena Choudhry, who became the focus of attention after a video of her confrontation with a Maharashtra minister during a traffic jam went viral, has provided an account of the incident. She stated that she was ignored for more than an hour before the situation escalated.

In her own words, Choudhry began her statement by introducing herself, saying, "Hello, I'm sure a lot of you have seen a lady. That girl is me. My name is Teena Choudhry and I'm sending you this message to clarify a few things." She expressed gratitude for the public concern regarding her safety, affirming, "I want to let you know that I'm fine and I appreciate the concern."

Choudhry recounted the events of 21 April. On that day, she had dropped her daughter off for her music lesson, scheduled to pick her up at 4:45 PM. She explained that her vehicle became trapped in a traffic jam by Mahindra Taaz after taking a left turn. After spending 25 minutes stationary, she exited her car to investigate the cause of the delay.

According to Choudhry, two buses were blocking the road and remained stationary. She reported that she approached various police personnel for help but received no assistance. "For the next one and a half hours, I went to every single police officer I received no reaction, no response. Nobody heard me," she recalled.

In a moment captured in the viral video, she explained her motivation for throwing a bottle to draw attention to her plight. Additionally, Choudhry highlighted her family's history of military service, stating, "My grandfather served in the Indian Army. My father served in the Indian Army. He fought two wars for this country. There are eight people in my family who served."

Choudhry emphasised the responsibilities that come with wearing a uniform, asserting, "When you wear a uniform, you are in public service. It does not give you the right to be disrespectful or to be intimidating."

She recounted her interaction with Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan, noting that he was the only person at the rally who appeared willing to listen. "By then the time was 6:15. I had no idea when I would be able to reach my child," she said. On Mahajan's instructions, the buses were moved, allowing her to access the main road.

Choudhry cautioned against using her experience as a political weapon, stating, "Please do not use my shoulder to take aim. All political parties are guilty of the exact same offence, utter disregard and absolute apathy for the general public."

She also questioned calls for her to become a spokesperson for others, stating, "Why do I need to be your voice? You have a voice." In closing, Choudhry expressed her appreciation for the public support, saying, "I have read all your messages. So much love, so much support, and for that, I will always be thankful."
