Morbi Abuse Case: Labourer and Landlord Arrested Over Exploitation
A labourer and his landlord were detained in Gujarat for allegedly permitting sexual abuse of his wife and daughter due to unpaid rent.

Authorities in Morbi, Gujarat, have arrested a labourer and his landlord following claims that the landlord was involved in the sexual exploitation of the labourer's wife and minor daughter. The arrests come after a complaint was lodged detailing the family's distressing circumstances.

According to police reports, the family relocated to Morbi approximately six months ago in search of employment and rented accommodation at a rate of ₹2,000 per month. As their financial situation deteriorated, they struggled to keep up with rental payments.

Police stated that the landlord exploited their vulnerable position. Allegedly, he demanded sexual favours from the labourer's wife as compensation for the overdue rent. The husband reportedly consented to this arrangement, which led to the landlord systematically raping the woman.

The situation escalated, with the landlord's demands extending to the couple's minor daughter. Reports indicated that the husband gave his consent for this abuse as well, resulting in further victimisation of the child. The minor was allegedly taken to different locations by the landlord, including sites in Tankara, where she was subjected to various forms of exploitation.

The horrific situation came to light only when the woman's maternal grandfather became aware of the ongoing abuse. Disturbed by the serious nature of the allegations and the betrayal of trust involved, he promptly filed a formal complaint with local law enforcement.

In response to the allegations, the Morbi Police registered a case under stringent legal provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Initial investigations resulted in the immediate arrest of both the labourer and the landlord. While the labourer has been imprisoned, the landlord has been remanded in police custody for further questioning.

Authorities confirmed that a third individual implicated in the case remains at large, and dedicated teams have been formed to locate this suspect fully. Local police continue to investigate the matter comprehensively as they seek to ensure justice for the victims involved in this harrowing case.
