MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9500s and 8500 Chipsets for Smartphones
MediaTek presents its latest Dimensity 9500s and 8500 chipsets, enhancing performance and gaming in flagship smartphones, during Tech Day in Delhi.

MediaTek, a prominent player in the global semiconductor industry, has introduced its latest chipsets, the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, at the MediaTek Tech Day event held in New Delhi. These processors are crafted to power flagship and premium smartphones, offering significant advancements in performance, energy efficiency, artificial intelligence, imaging, gaming, and wireless connectivity.

During the event, representatives from various media outlets, technology analysts, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) were present to observe the new innovations. Both OPPO India and POCO India announced their new smartphone models that will incorporate the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s System on Chip (SoC).

JC Hsu, MediaTek's corporate senior vice president and general manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit, stated, "As leaders in smartphone global share, we are committed to increasing our investment in advanced technologies and striving to make bleeding-edge products available to more people." He highlighted that the new chipsets aim to enhance flagship smartphone experiences while ensuring top performance and power efficiency.

Dimensity 9500s: Targeting Flagship Phones The Dimensity 9500s is designed using an advanced 3-nanometre manufacturing process. It features an octa-core central processing unit (CPU), which includes one Cortex-X925 ultra core operating at speeds up to 3.73GHz, three premium Cortex-X4 cores, and four performance-oriented Cortex-A720 cores. The chipset is enhanced by the Immortalis-G925 graphics processing unit (GPU), which facilitates impressive gaming performance including the capacity for advanced ray tracing.

The Dimensity 9500s supports various impressive features, including:

  • 8K full-focus Dolby Vision HDR video recording with real-time motion tracking via the MediaTek Imagiq Image Signal Processor (ISP).
  • Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 and Frame Rate Conversion 3.0 to increase energy efficiency during gaming.
  • A 5G modem that complies with the Release-17 standard, capable of delivering download speeds of up to 7Gbps.
  • MediaTek 5G UltraSave 4.0 technology for improved power conservation.
  • AI Network Suite 2.0 to enhance connectivity in areas with weak signals.
  • Xtra Range 3.0 technology for extending indoor Wi-Fi and enabling long-distance Bluetooth connections of up to 5 kilometres.

Dimensity 8500: Enhanced Performance The youth-oriented Dimensity 8500 is built on a 4-nanometre process, utilising an All-Big Core CPU architecture with eight Cortex-A725 cores that can reach speeds of 3.4GHz. This design optimises energy efficiency and improves performance.

The new chipset incorporates several upgrades:

  • The 8th-generation MediaTek Neural Processing Unit (NPU) supports large language models for improved artificial intelligence applications, enhancing both imaging and user experience.
  • The Mali-G720 GPU delivers a 25% boost in performance compared to its predecessor.
  • The incorporation of an AI-based telephoto algorithm and a semantic engine to optimise images.

In a statement, Anuj Sidharth, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication for MediaTek India and the Southeast Asia region, remarked, "With the launch of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, we are democratizing the flagship experience. Equipped with advanced architectural and imaging capabilities, the chipsets provide next-generation user experience to a broader audience."

Upcoming Devices Featuring Dimensity Chipsets During the event, OPPO India confirmed that the Find X9s smartphone will launch in India, built upon the capabilities of the Dimensity 9500s. Goldee Patnaik, OPPO India's Head of Communications, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming device, stating, "As an entry point into our flagship ecosystem, the Find X9s will balance performance and premium features based on our engineering philosophy."

Further, Ken Sekhar, the Marketing Lead at POCO India, affirmed the company's intention to collaborate closely with MediaTek, focusing on enhancing user performance through their devices powered by the Dimensity 9500s. He expressed anticipation for the new smartphone, aimed at achieving high performance benchmarks.

The MediaTek Tech Day serves to highlight the firm's commitment to making cutting-edge technology more accessible to consumers, underscoring its role in shaping the future of connectivity and smartphone capabilities.
