Kolkata Knight Riders Defeat Delhi Capitals by Eight Wickets
Kolkata Knight Riders achieve fourth consecutive win in IPL 2026, with Finn Allen scoring an unbeaten century against Delhi Capitals.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured a commanding victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 8, 2026. The Knight Riders achieved their target of 143 runs with eight wickets in hand, thanks to an impressive unbeaten century by New Zealand opener Finn Allen.

With this win, KKR not only maintained their playoff aspirations but also marked their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament. Finn Allen, despite struggling in previous matches, showcased his class by scoring 100 runs off 55 balls. He entered the match with a determination to change his form, which he certainly did, leading his team to victory in just 14.2 overs.

Key to KKR's success was a robust partnership between Allen and Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who together put on an unbroken stand of 116 runs for the third wicket. This partnership came after a shaky start for KKR, losing both Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi early in the innings.

In contrast, Delhi Capitals continued to struggle, suffering their seventh defeat in eleven matches this season. Their batting performance fell short as the team managed only 142 runs for 8 wickets. The Capitals' innings was marked by a promising 50 runs from Pathum Nissanka, who contributed significantly in an opening partnership of 49 before their batting order collapsed.

KKR’s bowling attack, particularly its spinners, was instrumental in curbing DC’s scoring efforts. Anukul Roy took two wickets, and veteran Sunil Narine played a crucial role, claiming another wicket to push DC further back. Pace bowler Kartik Tyagi also added to the pressure with two dismissals.

As the match progressed, DC’s middle-order struggled to accelerate, adding a mere 11 runs during the critical 12th to 16th overs. Although Ashutosh Sharma attempted to bolster the innings towards the end with a few boundaries, the effort was insufficient to offer any substantial recovery for the faltering team.

The defeat puts Delhi Capitals in a precarious position as they look to salvage their IPL campaign, with their performance this season hanging by a thread. KKR, however, will look to build on their momentum as they chase further success in the competition.
