Kamini Kaushal, a celebrated figure in Indian cinema, has passed away at the age of 98 at her home in Mumbai. The news was confirmed by family friend Sajan Narain, who stated that she died late Thursday night. Kaushal, who would have turned 99 in February, is survived by her three sons, Shravan, Vidur, and Rahul. Born as Uma Kashyap on 24 February 1927 in Lahore, which was part of India at the time, Kamini Kaushal was the youngest of five siblings. She was notable for being one of the few actresses of her generation to hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a testament to her intelligence and charm that she brought to her film roles.
Kaushal made her acting debut in the film âNeecha Nagarâ, which received the prestigious Palme dâOr at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival. This marked the beginning of a prolific career, during which she starred in over 100 films, as documented by the Internet Movie Database.
