Andhra Pradesh Signs Rs 2.94 Lakh Crore Agreements in Renewable Energy
Andhra Pradesh has entered into substantial agreements worth ₹2.94 lakh crore in the renewable energy sector, marking a significant advancement in the state's transition to clean energy. Chief Secretary K Vijayanand announced the milestone on the eve of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.
The agreements encompass a diverse range of projects, including pumped hydro storage, green hydrogen, wind, solar, biofuels, and energy storage initiatives. This comprehensive approach is anticipated to create approximately 69,800 jobs across various districts in the state.
The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Energy Minister, and officials from the Energy Department and the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), alongside prominent industry figures. Notable companies participating in these agreements include Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd., Chinta Green Energy Pvt. Ltd., ABC Cleantech (Evren) & Axis Energy Ventures, ReNew Group, Four Square Green Energy Pvt. Ltd., Indosol Solar Pvt. Ltd., and Hero Future Energies Pvt. Ltd.
The MoUs were formalised in the presence of senior government officials and representatives from the involved firms, indicating strong collaboration between the public and private sectors in advancing the state's energy goals.
In addition to the renewable energy agreements, the launch of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER) Growth Hub Plan was also highlighted at the summit. Chief Secretary K Vijayanand referred to this initiative as a pivotal step in the state’s long-term strategy to establish a globally competitive, inclusive, and resilient economic hub along India’s east coast. He emphasised that under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh aims to achieve a US$ 2.4 trillion economy by the year 2047.
The Visakhapatnam Economic Region, which covers nine coastal districts and nearly 38,000 square kilometres, is envisioned as a central growth engine driving the economic transformation of the state. This ambitious project is designed to enhance infrastructure, attract investment, and foster sustainable development in the region.
