Iran Stresses Commitment to National Security in Talks with China
During a meeting in Beijing, Iranian military official Mohammad Baqeri outlined Iran's unwavering commitment to its national security and sovereignty. This meeting took place with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and focused on recent tensions involving the United States and Israel.
Baqeri addressed the implications of what he described as US and Israeli aggression towards Iran. Highlighting various diplomatic efforts aimed at mitigating conflict, he stressed that Iran would not compromise on its essential rights.
He referred to the assassinations, including that of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, as unforgivable and termed these acts as war crimes that cannot continue unchecked. "We consider these actions to constitute war crimes, and such crimes must not be allowed to continue," Baqeri stated, reinforcing Iran's position against any threats to its sovereignty.
Baqeri further warned about the repercussions of US-led military pursuits, arguing that such conflicts would not only fail but also jeopardise the global economy. He conveyed that a war against a civilization is inherently flawed and would not yield a successful outcome.
In a press interview following his discussions, Baqeri highlighted the alignment between Iran and China on issues of diplomacy and conflict resolution, indicating that both nations share a unified perspective as they approach future challenges together. The collaboration is seen as vital to maintaining stability in the region amidst growing international pressures.
