Iran President Comments on Difficult Communication with Supreme Leader

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian revealed on Wednesday that communicating with Mojtaba Khamenei, the country’s supreme leader, has become increasingly challenging in recent times. Since being injured in a US-Israeli strike, Khamenei has not made any public appearances. His absence has raised questions regarding his relationships with senior officials and the overall direction of leadership within Iran.

Khamenei, who succeeded his father after he was killed in the assault, has primarily conveyed messages through written statements. The current scenario, marked by ongoing tensions with the United States, has prompted discussions about Khamenei’s low profile. Notably, he was absent from his father’s funeral ceremonies last month.

Despite the difficulties, Pezeshkian expressed confidence in the leadership of Khamenei, stating, "It is very difficult to communicate with him at the moment, but in any case, his presence is a very great source of strength for us so that we can continue." He also noted that he has managed to hold constructive meetings with Khamenei, who he described as demonstrating "kindness and very sound logic."

Pezeshkian further commented on the ongoing speculation surrounding Khamenei’s visibility, asserting that "the current situation allows some malicious people to describe him differently and to present a different image of him." These comments come at a time of heightened concern regarding Iran’s relationship with global powers amid the evolving geopolitical landscape in the region.
