IndiGo Flight Diverted to Lucknow Following Smoke Alarm Warning

An IndiGo flight, 6E 6504, from Agartala to New Delhi was compelled to divert to Lucknow on Tuesday evening due to a smoke alarm triggered in the aircraft's cargo hold. Carrying over 150 individuals, the Airbus A320 took off at approximately 4:36 PM and landed at 6:31 PM after receiving clearance for an emergency landing at Lucknow airport.

The cockpit crew reported concerns regarding a potential fire within the luggage compartment, which prompted their decision to request an immediate landing. Emergency services were on standby upon arrival, and all passengers and crew members—103 adults and six staff—alighted without injuries.

One source remarked, "As a precautionary move, the pilot decided to land. It is still being ascertained if it was a false alarm or if there was any major issue." The aircraft has been grounded temporarily while assessments and checks are being conducted.

Following the incident, IndiGo arranged an alternate flight to transport the passengers from Lucknow to Delhi, set to depart by 9 PM on the same day. This event follows a series of similar alerts involving other airlines, raising concerns about in-flight safety measures.

IndiGo, one of India’s largest airlines, has faced scrutiny over operational protocols recently, as passenger safety remains a pivotal priority in the aviation industry.
