Indian Embassy Engages US Lobbying Firm for Trade and Security Talks
The Indian Embassy in Washington D.C. has secured the services of a US lobbying firm, SHW Partners LLC, to support its efforts in trade negotiations as well as discussions related to a new initiative termed 'Operation Sindoor.' This decision follows the embassy's need to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance engagement with key US officials.
SHW Partners, led by Jason Miller, a former advisor to former US President Donald Trump, has been involved in facilitating meetings and discussions between Indian officials and various departments within the US government. This undertaking is part of a comprehensive strategy to bolster India's position in upcoming trade discussions.
According to filings under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), the contract with SHW Partners commenced in April 2025 and is set to continue until December of the same year. The firm's role includes coordinating encounters with high-level officials from both the United States State Department and the National Security Council.
A source familiar with the matter has indicated that the lobbying efforts are aimed at advancing crucial trade agreements between India and the United States, along with discussions surrounding national security interests that affect both countries simultaneously.
This lobbying initiative demonstrates a proactive approach by the Indian government to navigate complex trade and security landscapes. Engaging with a firm experienced in US politics may enhance India’s bargaining power while addressing critical issues in international relations.
The Indian Embassy's reliance on SHW Partners underlines the significance of strategic lobbying in determining the outcomes of high-stakes negotiations. Officials are optimistic that these engagements will yield fruitful results and deepen cooperation between the two nations.
