India Dismisses Pakistan's Bounty on Azhar as Empty Gesture

Indian officials have dismissed Pakistan's recent announcement to raise the bounty on Masood Azhar, the leader of the banned terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed. The Indian government described this move as a mere gimmick, lacking any substance or real effort to curb terrorism.

The increase in the bounty was reported following a rising concern over terrorism in South Asia, especially in relation to cross-border attacks that have targeted Indian soil. India has maintained that Masood Azhar has been responsible for orchestrating multiple attacks that have led to significant loss of life.

Officials reiterated that such announcements do not equate to genuine action against terrorism. Furthermore, they highlighted that Pakistan has failed to take meaningful steps against those who pose a threat to regional stability.

The Indian government has long accused Pakistan of harbouring terrorists and has called for accountability in this regard. This development comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, leading many to question Pakistan's sincerity in combatting terrorism.

Political analysts suggest that the timing of this announcement may be aimed at diverting attention from Pakistan's ongoing domestic challenges, including economic instability and diplomatic criticisms.

In response to the announcement, a spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Actions speak louder than words. This increase in bounty is simply an attempt to distract from real issues at hand.”
