India Delivers 'Made in India' Patrol Vessel to Seychelles Coast Guard
Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially transferred a 'Made in India' Fast Patrol Vessel to the Seychelles Coast Guard on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The event took place at the Coast Guard Base in Victoria, Seychelles, during Mr. Modi’s three-day visit to the archipelago.
This initiative underscores India’s commitment to bolstering the maritime security capabilities of Seychelles. The vessel, named PS LESPWAR, is designed to enhance Seychelles' surveillance and patrolling abilities within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
In addition to the patrol vessel, the Indian Prime Minister also presented six ambulances, ten utility vehicles, and five laser radial boats, aimed at fortifying the developmental and security framework of Seychelles.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the significance of this handover, stating that it is part of a broader effort to deepen defence cooperation between India and Seychelles under the framework of India's Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions). This initiative is intended to promote security and stability in the Indian Ocean region.
Through ongoing partnerships, India has been instrumental in enhancing Seychelles’ defence capabilities over the years by supplying patrol vessels, aircraft, and necessary training support. This recent handover marks another milestone in their collaborative efforts to ensure maritime safety.
"Together as partners. Stronger as one," the MEA noted in a social media post, reiterating the commitment to mutual cooperation between the two nations.
