India Announces Squads for Upcoming White-Ball Series Against West Indies

India has officially named its squads for the forthcoming white-ball series against West Indies, scheduled to begin on 27 September. The series includes both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Following his recent form, batter Shubman Gill will lead the team in ODIs.

The ODI squad consists of Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Interestingly, both Auqib Nabi and Naman Dhir are set to make their debuts in the ODI format. Auqib Nabi received his first call-up following his inclusion in the Test squad during the recent tour of Sri Lanka.

Ruturaj Gaikwad marks his return to the ODI setup after not participating in a match since last year, during a home series against South Africa. Ravindra Jadeja is also back in the team after a hiatus since January, when he last played in an ODI series against New Zealand.

For the T20I format, Shreyas Iyer will captain the squad, comprising Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, and Mayank Yadav. Mayank Yadav returns to the T20I setup after missing the series against Afghanistan. The inclusion of Kuldeep Yadav and Prince Yadav further bolsters the bowling ranks.

Additionally, changes have been made to the Indian squad for the Asian Games. Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out due to a side strain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy will not participate as he has been replaced in the Asian Games squad by Vipraj Nigam.

The India squad for the T20I series against Japan and the Asian Games includes Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Varma, Ravi Bishnoi, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Vipraj Nigam, Axar Patel, Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Washington Sundar, and Yash Thakur.

The itinerary for the ODI series is as follows: the first ODI will take place on 27 September in Trivandrum, the second ODI is scheduled for 30 September in Guwahati, while the third ODI will be held on 3 October in New Chandigarh. The T20I matches are set to start on 6 October in Lucknow, with subsequent matches in Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru on 9 October, 11 October, 14 October, and 17 October respectively.
